The red, white and True and the red, white and new!!

As a lot of us know, the fourth of July was some months ago, the day when americans celebrate this country and the freedom that we have had since 1776. It isn’t just recognized, we celebrate with get-togethers, barbecues, and fireworks….lots and lots of fireworks. Even more recently was the fun event that happens every four years…. the um…. oh you know, what’s that thing that almost everyone hates talking about now? OH, that’s right, the election! I’m not going to talk about the election, because well, that’s not what this post is about, but this post is about something that both of these events have in common: freedom. Americans, and others around the world, love freedom. It’s an awesome thing to have, and we are so, so blessed by GOD to have it. But sometimes, and a lot of the time, we take for granted and or forget the real freedom that we have, that we have always had.: the freedom from GOD, with CHRIST!!!!!!!! GOD has given us freedom through CHRIST that didn’t and doesn’t have to be confirmed by signing a document, keeping a flag raised, or wearing three supportive colors. GOD’S freedom is FREE with CHRIST to us, because HE sacrificed for us, because HE loves us, so soooo much. And it is obviously so important to know this, for we can’t, don’t and won’t know True Freedom until we know that GOD is True Freedom, and that with HIM, through HIM, with CHRIST, through CHRIST, we are free(John 3:16-17, Romans 8:1-4, Galatians 5:1).

What I mean in the title of this blog post is completely a part of a metaphor; a beautiful, wonderful, peaceful, loving, indescribable, incomparable metaphor that has been happening for forever and ever and ever, wayyyy before 1776.

The Red:

GOD loves us so much, that HE sent HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST, perfect and blameless and so much more, down to this earth, where there is hate, discrimination, hurting, sorrow, pain, evil, cruelty, etc., to walk this earth, spread Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, and so much more, and be hated and spat on, ridiculed and beaten, nail to a cross and killed. THE KING OF KINGS, THE LORD OF LORDS, THE GOD ALMIGHTY, HIS BLOOD was poured out, HIS BLOOD was spilled, oh was it poured, oh was it spilled, and it isn’t an accident, it’s THE TRUTH, HE IS THE TRUTH. And as HIS blood poured out, as it spilled, so did HIS everlasting, continuous GRACE. It kept pouring, it kept spilling, and it is still doing so to this day, and it will continue happening forever and ever and evermore, no matter what(Isaiah 53:5-6 “5. But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed. 6. All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him.” John 3:16-17 “16.”For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.””

The White:

GOD. Oh how precious is HE, THE LORD GOD AND SAVIOR OF ALL, JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOR. Oh how precious is HIS NAME, THE NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES, THE KING OF KINGS, THE LORD OF LORDS. And it isn’t just His name that is so soooo precious, it is HIM. HE is the precious Lamb that was slain, THE LAMB OF GOD, whiter than white, whiter than snow, purer than pure, purer than the freshest water that one can ever drink, HE IS. For HE is perfect, HE did no wrong, none whatsoever, even in the midst of evil and wrong itself while on earth, with us, sinners. HIS pureness is so pure and more that HE has cleansed everyone, each person, each sinner, as white as snow, whiter than snow actually. And only HE can do so, for there is none more pure than HIM, none who could and or can ever be more pure, for no one can be pure without HIM, it’s just not possible, ever!! HE is beyond the purest of pure, being PURENESS HIMSELF. HE always has been, always is, and always will be!!!! Even in the midst of us, HE IS PURE, even in the trials, HE IS PURE, even when things seemed to be at their worst, HE IS PURE, even when dark actions and thoughts and a words were and are thrown at HIM, against HIM, HE IS PURE, in every moment, HE IS PURE, COMPLETE AND BEYOND PERFECT PURENESS. So pure that even when the storms came, literally and metaphorically, HE IS STILL PURE, and even when people doubted, are doubting and will doubt HIM, HE IS STILL PURE. So pure, that HE performed, continues to perform, and will perform miracles from GOD THE FATHER, PURENESS HIMSELF, that when HE died on the cross, water came out of HIS body, out of HIS side, along with HIS precious blood, that was poured out from GOD, THE LORD GOD OF ALL, in HIS plan, for us, and we can continue to see HIS pureness  even after that, oh it didn’t stop there, for HE is so pure, soooo purer than pure, whiter than white, brighter than bright, that HE rose from the grave, from the dead 3 days later, and HE still continues to remain THE PERFECT PURENESS, THE PUREST OF PURE, FOREVER AND EVER AND ALWAYS!!!!!!!! John 3:16-17 “”16. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.””

The True:

GOD IS THE ONE TRUE GOD. No circumstances can ever change that, for He is the one Who knows about the circumstances in the first place. No person, even a president, and no issue, even in America, can change the fact that He is The One Who we need, Who everyone needs, and instead of relying on a person or an outcome of a situation to change us and save us, we need to look to and focus on THE SAVIOR OF ALL, GOD, Who was, is, and Who is to come, always and forever!! He is The Truth, and since He is The Truth, HE is what matters, HE AND HIS WORD. Not a constitution, not a set of freedoms and laws, for those freedoms are only temporary, but the TRUE FREEDOM that we have in GOD through CHRIST JESUS is THE TRUTH, everlasting, eternal, and just like HIM, so so amazing.

The red:

We are sinners, all of us, no questions. I could literally end this section with that sentence alone because that is the point I’m trying to make in using red to compare to us. We are sinners, we make mistakes, we always have and we will continue to do so until the day of the coming of The Lord, Christ-OH WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY- and we can’t erase anything we do by ourselves, ever. We are stained, we are just covered, completely covered by the evil, the sin, the shame, there isn’t a way out…. or so we may think.

The white:

BUT GOD. Oh, I love that sentence. BUT GOD, being so loving and gracious and merciful and forgiving, washes it all away, all of it, completely. He looks at us, even so much covered in the nastiness of sin and shame, stained with the evil that we have been a part of, and loves us. HE LOVES US, ALWAYS. No questions asked. He looks at us and smiles because He doesn’t see sinners who cannot be saved- He sees His children Who already have been. He has forgiven us and taken our place before time existed. He wants us to know that, to know Him and to run to HIM. He wants us to turn away from the mess and run to Him, LOVE.

Ephesians 2:4-10 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

The new:

WE ARE MADE COMPLETELY NEW IN CHRIST JESUS THE LORD GOD OF ALL!! Isn’t that amazing?! How can someone contain the excitement about that. The Lord God of all, THE ALMIGHTY, saves us, completely. GOD has washed away our sins, completely. We are no longer stained in sin and shame but washed new, pure and covered instead in The Love, Grace, Mercy and Forgiveness that has set us free, we at free, completely, indeed. No more shame, hurt, or pain. HE has taken everything bad and said “Forget about this, you don’t need the sin, you don’t have to feel the pain.” And HE has told us time after time after time after time, eternally, that we are HIS children, we are forgiven, we are loved, we are pure, and we are definitely made new in HIM.

Isaiah 1:18

“Let Us Reason”

18 “Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are as scarlet,
They will be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They will be like wool.

New year, SAME GOD.

It’s a new year. People say, “new year, new me”. Whether or not they stick to that is something that we can’t always be sure of, but we can always be sure of The One Who stays the same, always: THE LORD GOD OF ALL. He is Who was, is and is to come, always, eternally. He has never, never, and will never change, always, eternally.

I continued reading in a “reading the Bible in a year plan” called the “2015 transformation challenge”. I know, I know, it’s from 2015, but hey, The Bible is and will always still be here so better I continue it now than never. I hadn’t used the plan in awhile, I have just been reading whatever I feel The Lord wants me to read, whatever I open up The Word, His Word to, which isn’t bad at all, there’s no problem in that, at all. But I am so glad I felt from God the need to continue in this Bible reading plan. The next verses listed to read were Mark 11-12. Lots of verses in these chapters stand out to me, the whole thing, really, as a matter of fact the whole Bible gets me and stands out to me tremendously, no kidding, but a set of verses that stood out to me is found in Mark 11:1-7.

Mark 11:3-7 “1.As they approached Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples, 2.and said to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here. 3.If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ you say, ‘The LORD has need of it’; and immediately he will send it back here.” 4.They went away and found a colt tied at the door, outside in the street; and they untied it. 5.Some of the bystanders were saying to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” 6.They spoke to them just as Jesus had told them, and they gave them permission. 7.They brought the colt to Jesus and put their coats on it; and He sat on it.”

These verses are so cool, and one reason why they stand out is because of the lesson found within them, taught by God, that we need to apply in our lives, especially in this new year: TRUSTING GOD.

These verses show various components in the process of trusting God:

-God knows all

-God knows what He’s doing

-Our confusion(while trusting God)

-Obeying God(while trusting God)

-Others’ confusion(witnessing us trusting God)

-Completing what God tells us to do(while trusting God)

-Giving it to HIM(while trusting God)

-Watching Him do something amazing, beyond our imagination(while trusting God)

-Trusting GOD even more.

The situation in these verses resembles similar situations that we encounter in our walk with THE LORD. God tells us something, even to do or say something, and at first we may not understand-What is this  for? Why do we need to do this? What will the outcome be? It may be something completely out of our current “comfort zone”, something that sounds crazy, that we even worry about what others may think or say. But God tells us that He is always in control, always has been and always will be, that HE knows what the outcome will be and why it is to be done, and that it is for good. He tells us to trust HIM, and we do. We may still be unsure of the situation, but we are trusting in HIM. As we perform the task, or whatever it may be that God has told us to do, as we are obeying Him, others-a lot- usually don’t know why we are acting the way we are, doing what we are doing or saying what we are saying, they just don’t get it. They think we’re crazy, they think it’s funny, they think it’s pointless. They see us doing something out of “the ordinary” and just don’t understand, and that is more than fine. But while they are looking at us differently, confused at our behavior, actions and words, they are witnessing something so very beautiful: followers of Christ sharing The Love and shining The Light of GOD. And hopefully, God’s will, they are influenced by it and want to grow closer to HIM, too.

And so we complete what God has told us to do, and we may still be confused, but we do what He has told us to do with all things: bring it to HIM. We give it to HIM, all of it, and we watch HIM do something amazing, something beyond what our imagination can even begin to comprehend. It’s marvelous, miraculous, glorious, beautiful, oh so beautiful, and it’s only with HIM that these truly good things happen. It’s only with HIM that we see in true clarity after being in a fog of confusion. Confusion, but trust. And in the end HE, GOD gets all of the glory, all of it. HE gets all of the praise and honor because only HE is truly worthy of it, not us, ever. In verses 8-14 it says: “8.And many spread their coats in the road, and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields. 9.Those who went in front and those who followed were shouting:

10.Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David;

Hosanna in the highest!”

11.Jesus entered Jerusalem and came into the temple; and after looking around at everything, He left for Bethany with the twelve, since it was already late. 12.On the next day, when they had left Bethany, He became hungry. 13.Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if perhaps He would find anything on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14.He said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again!” And His disciples were listening.

The people praise HIM. The work that the disciples did was for Him, not for themselves, and they completed it in complete trust in God, because their hope is in HIM. They didn’t know why they were going to grab a colt, they didn’t know why Jesus wanted it, but in the end, God used it in a way they wouldn’t ever imagine, The King, riding on a colt through town, and endless praises being given to Him as the outcome. The last few verses in this passage show that God continues these moments, time after time, where there is always going to be moments when we don’t know what God is doing, but we have to trust that He does, for sure, know. It is for GOD always, for the good. He will never lead us astray, He will only lead us to the best.
